Jennifer Lopez or known to her fans as JLO was born Jennifer Lynn Lopez on July 24, 1969 was born in Bronx, New York. Jennifer attended Catholic in the Castle Hill section of the Bronx. Jennifer was interested in singing and dancing at a young age and when she became old enough she financed dance classes and singing lessons. She supported herself by working in a law office.
Jennifer at age 19 began to audition for dance roles. She began appearing in music videos for such artists as New Kids on the Block. Once she started dancing as a professional she yearned for more work. After auditioning twice Jennifer became a Fly Girl for Fox’s hit TV show In Living Color.
It was here that Jennifer began getting high profile jobs, she appeared in Janet Jackson’s video for That’s the Way love Goes. She also has appeared in short lived TV programs such as the TV show South Central, Second Chances and Hotel Malibu. Jennifer began to focus her career more toward movies. It was here that her career began to really take off.
In 1995, she appeared in the movie My Family and then she appeared with Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson in Money Train. She began appearing in many films almost immediately. In 1996, she appeared in the movie Jack with Robin Williams and in 1997 she appeared with Jack Nicholson in the movie Blood and Wine. But it wasn’t until this next role that she became a household name, in 1997 she was the title role about the life and death of Tejano music sensation Selena. This role earned Jennifer a nomination in that year Golden Globe Awards.
